SIMOVIS - Common queries

• What kind of cable is used to connect the PC and the SIMOREG 6RA70 device?
  The pins on connector X300 are assigned for both the RS232 and RS485 interface. Its construction is identical to connector X300 on the SIEMENS Master Drives (but not identical to the 6RA24 connector).
  The following cable is needed to make an RS232 connection (see description in Section 15 for Order No.).
  
  

• How can SIMOVIS be installed on a PC without a CD-ROM drive?
  The installation files are stored in four subdirectories (disk1, disk2,...) in directory SIMOVIS\Deutsch_English. You can copy the contents of these four subdirectories onto four diskettes and install SIMOVIS from these (begin installation by starting SETUP.EXE on the first diskette).

• Where do I select the converter type (e.g. 6RA24)?
  Once you have started SIMOVIS (USS), you will find yourself in the bus configuration screen.
  You can define the converters connected to the USS bus (only one in the case of an RS232 connection) by selecting "Edit > Add converter". An input screenform will then appear, in which you can select the converter type (6RA24 or DC-Master) and the converter software version from selection lists.
